The IRA planted a bomb at the Grand Hotel in Brighton in October 1984 where the Conservative party conference was being held. Just before 3am the bomb exploded killing 5 people and over 30 were injured. The target was Prime-minister Margaret Thatcher and the British Cabinet. Sir Anthony Berry who was an MP at the time was one of those killed.
